Push the button! The Open Access button is a cool way to address two issues.
Firstly, if you’re asked to pay for an research online it will search the web for you to find an alternative freebie source for that article!
Secondly, if it can’t find a freebie, it will let the author know and you can glow in the feel good vibe of helping to fix the system (you need to provide a couple of details). This little alert (“I wanted it, but I had to pay for it!”) will be catalogued and become part of the data we need to move forward in Open Access.
So, how does it work? You can find easy instructions in the link below.
However, in a nutshell, here’s the lowdown:
- Install the open access button on your browser. This is downloaded from the app store.
- Use it whenever you’re asked to pay for an article. It will search the web for free access.
So, load it up, and enjoy.
