The International Open Access Week 2017 is just around the corner and Macquarie University Library has a number of events planned from Tuesday 25th October.
Software is not just for Scientists – a series of lightning talks will be held across Tue 24th – Wed 25th October, where our researchers and professional staff on campus will share how they incorporate open software tools into their work. Interesting topics such as machine learning, data reuse, LaTex, R, GitHub etc. will be covered. Time and venue will be made available closer to the date.
Virtual Reality showcase – Did you know VR technology and Open Educational resources have a close-knit relationship? During the OA week, come along to the library Reserve area and try out our VR goggles, where we will take you on a journey to explore the human body, experience what it might feel like falling on a cliff, and experience Star Wars from a very different perspective. Come and learn the importance of Open Educational resources on the development of VR technologies.
We will also have an Open Access stall outside of the library during the week (Tue 24th – Thur 26th October) where you can get more information on Open Access, Copyright, Creative Commons and Open Educational Resources. Feel free to come along and talk to one of our friendly staff members.
